Day 6: Last day – Exploring Omoide Yokocho and Harajuku

Well, all the is good come to an end at a certain time. And this amazing trip is unfortunately coming to the end. Today is the last day… anyway, let’s enjoy the final spots we had no chance to see until now.

One of the spots we wanted to see during our last day was Omoide Yokocho.

We took the train and went back to Shinjuku Station.

Facts about this alley: “Omoide Yokocho is a narrow alley in Shinjuku, Tokyo, known for its nostalgic atmosphere and tiny, traditional eateries. The area, also called “Memory Lane,” dates back to post-World War II and originally developed as a black market zone. Today, it is famous for its numerous small restaurants and bars, many specializing in yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and other classic Japanese street foods. The alley is popular with both locals and tourists for its rustic charm and lively nightlife, offering a glimpse of old Tokyo” ChatGPT.

This place is definitely different than the rest of Tokyo. It is old, does not look pristine clean as the rest of the city, but it is interesting to see the old Tokyo inside the new Tokyo city.

Immediately after we decided to go to Harajuku, a vibrant teen neighborhood! The stores are all for teens, teen clothing, etc. In Harajuku we stopped at a

Here in Harajuku we decided to see one of the famous Pet Cafes. It is a place where, together with animals, you can enjoy a drink and pat animals. There is a cafe with owls, lizards, etc. In Harajuku we entered a Dog Pet Cafe.

Mommy loves dogs, she felt in heaven in this place.

After recharging the batteries, we decided to go for a last stop before heading back to the hotel and then to the airport. It is a typical store that sells beautiful fabrics that can be folded into bags, gift wraps, etc. Kind of Origami with squared pieces of cloth.

The store is name Musubi, 2-31-8, Jingumae, Shibuya-ku
Beautiful art.

And again we took the train to the hotel and then to the airport. But there is still something we did not try, which is typical in Japan… the Japanese Barbecue (Yakiniku) with Wagyu Beef.

And here we are, ready to try the barbecue.

Wagyu is a super super tender piece of meat. If you want to know all the details and history about it, click here. But in a nutshell, wagyu cows spend their lives listening to classic music, drinking beer, and receiving massages so that the fat of the meat is distributed evenly and making the meat really juicy and soft.

And look what else we found at the airport. A shop of handmade design candies… wow!

Look at the details of what is inside.
Look how they make it!

Guys, this is it. It was a dream to come to this place and one thing is clear to me… I will come back!
