On a day initially planned for a brief drive, a mother and son made an impromptu trip to see puffins in Northeast Iceland, braving cold weather. They enjoyed brunch at Café Hafnarhus, admired stunning views of fjords and mountains, and explored notable stops like Hvalnes Lighthouse before ending their day in HÖFN.

Day 3: A Scenic Drive Through Iceland’s Breathtaking Landscapes (Northwest)

Today, we drove six hours from Stykkishólmur to Akureyri, with stops at Hvítserkur and Glaumbær Turfhouses. We enjoyed stunning views, dirt roads, and unique houses amid picturesque mountains. Lunch featured Icelandic hotdogs, and the day ended with a delightful dinner of codfish and wine in Akureyri.

Day 2: Exploring Iceland’s Snaefellsnes Peninsula (West)

The day was spent exploring Snaefellsnes Peninsula, featuring stunning black volcanic cliffs, multiple waterfalls, a volcano crater, lighthouses, and a shipwreck on a black sand beach. After a scenic journey, a delicious meal was enjoyed at a harbor restaurant, followed by a night at the transformed Hotel Franziskus in Stykkishólmur.
